Privacy protection and personal data protection are the two great issues of our era. But above all a need felt by the majority of people, institutions and companies present on the market. We live most of the day online, we register on many sites and platforms and purchase with credit cards, hold data on drives, etc. All actions that could expose us to attacks by hackers and malicious people.
There are many ways to defend yourself from cyber scams. However, what few people know is that search engines also always record the traces of our passage. It is therefore important to inform yourself and understand how to eliminate these ‘footprints’ and how to delete personal data from Google.
Google is the most exploited and well-known search program on the planet. An extraordinary tool that profiles our data every moment, 24 hours a day. And not only if we do searches from a PC or phone. Voice assistants also record searches. Deleting them from Siri, Alexa and Google Assistant is very simple but doing so from a computer, however, requires a few more steps.
If we want our identity to disappear from searches, we will have to submit an official cancellation request to Google. All via a form easily available online. The request will be motivated in accordance with community regulations for the protection of privacy. Once we have completed the questionnaire we will confirm our identity and send the request.
Much more immediate is to delete data relating to recordings, history, location and other licenses by simply clicking on Google Chrome and accessing the Help Center. From here and from the Advanced section we can delete all the data we want to protect or set a time interval in which the information will remain visible before being deleted.
Unfortunately, being rigorous and eliminating the tracking data of our searches is not always sufficient to protect our privacy and the data contained within the memory of our IT devices. Professionals, institutions, companies, traders and all those who hold sensitive data of their employees and customers have the duty to safeguard the information held by them also through specifically designed insurance.
